Some of the internet’s best answers are buried in Discord chats. Discord wants search engines to find them.
In a blog post on Tuesday, Discord announced that discussions in Discoverable Servers will soon be easier to find on the web. Controls for admins and members start rolling out now, ahead of any content going public.
Which servers are affected
Only Discoverable Servers, the most public spaces on Discord. To qualify, a server needs at least 1,000 members, must be at least eight weeks old and has to meet activity and safety requirements. Discord says there are more than 63,000 of them. Private servers, DMs and group DMs are not included.
The timeline
From November 16, 2026, every Discoverable Server will have a Server Web Page. If admins haven’t created one, a default page goes live using the server’s profile. These pages may also show Channel Summaries, which are automated summaries of active conversations in public channels.
From mid-December 2026, some messages from public channels can appear on Server Web Pages and in web search, in members’ own words. Discord says the rollout is gradual, so it may take a few weeks for the first messages to appear. Usernames and avatars won’t be shown alongside messages, and messages sent before mid-December aren’t included.
How to opt out
Admins can choose which channels take part, or opt all of them out, in Server Settings > Web Presence. If they change nothing, public channels stay on.
Members can stop their messages from appearing via User Settings > Data and Privacy. One switch covers every Discoverable Server. Turning it off stops future messages, but messages sent while it was on stay up unless you delete them. Channel Summaries are generated separately and still appear unless admins turn them off.
Defaults vary by region. In the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea, the member setting is off by default because of legal restrictions. Teen users are excluded entirely. Everywhere else, it’s on unless members turn it off.
Discord says it has been piloting the feature with game communities including NBA 2K, Rust and Dead by Daylight, and wants to bring back “what made forums great”.
Why it matters
If your brand, product or customer community lives on a public Discord server, those conversations may soon be searchable, which is a real SEO opportunity for answers to common questions. It also raises the stakes for moderation and for what staff post in public channels. Admins should review Web Presence settings before November 16, and anyone who’d rather stay out of search should flip the user setting now.
