One of the biggest media-tech deals of the year just closed — earlier than planned.
On November 6, 2026, Fox announced it had completed its $22 billion acquisition of Roku, founded in 2002. Fox says the combined company now ranks as the third-largest television business in the United States by viewership.
What Fox gets
The deal gives Fox direct access to Roku’s reach of more than 100 million households. Fox expects that audience to improve advertising targeting, strengthen its position in connected TV and reduce reliance on traditional TV distribution.
Roku founder Anthony Wood said in a statement that the mission of giving people a better way to watch TV does not change, while reach and resources do. He said teams will keep building and innovating with Fox’s support.
Regulatory path
The announcement came two months after the Justice Department issued a second request for information as part of its antitrust review. Earlier this month, reports suggested the deal was nearing U.S. regulatory approval. When the deal was first announced in June, the companies projected completion in the first half of 2027 — so closing in November 2026 is well ahead of that original window.
Why it matters
Connected TV and ad-tech buyers will feel the scale of a Fox-owned Roku platform. Martech and streaming vendors should update competitive maps and CTV partnership pitches accordingly.
B2B marketers selling into media, ad tech and measurement should expect sharper questions about inventory access, targeting and measurement on a combined Fox–Roku stack.
