Meta Opens Muse Voice Video Chat With AI Avatars to All US Users

Talking to an AI avatar on a video call just went mainstream in the United States.

On Thursday, November 5, 2026, Meta said Muse Voice — its call and video chat feature with the Muse AI agent and a customizable animated avatar — is available to everyone in the US. The feature was first introduced at Meta Connect in September.

How Muse Voice works

Muse Voice is powered by Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice models. The animated avatar, nicknamed Jolly, can be customized as a person, animal or character. It shows subtle expressions and gestures that match the tone of the conversation. The avatar hears the user but does not “see” them.

Chief AI officer Alexandr Wang announced the rollout in a blog post and on X, sharing a demo. Support covers mobile, web and Mac. Meta plans later support for AI Glasses and Muse Charm, a Tamagotchi-like wearable planned before year-end.

Why Meta is pushing presence

Giving Muse a face and a voice turns a chat assistant into something that feels more like a call. For Meta, that opens new surfaces on phones, browsers and, soon, wearables — and keeps users inside its ecosystem longer.

Why it matters

Consumer AI agents with presence raise brand and support expectations. B2B marketers watching Meta should note how agent UX and upcoming hardware reshape attention and ad surfaces.

If your product roadmap includes conversational agents, Meta’s avatar-first UX is a useful benchmark for what end users will soon treat as normal.
